I have unplugged the Dell C6100 because although it uses 32 cores, as of the moment World Community Grid has NO science projects using GPUS!! Amazing. So why have both computers running.
I am still planning on getting a second computer just for the Tesla K40. I will probably do that next month. Will need to purchase motherboard, memory, chassis and a cpu. I have the power supply and the hard drive for this. The monitor, keyboard and mouse will be shared with a switch.
I wrote to World Community Grid about that and their response is that the scientists that send them the projects are not using the CUDA programing language for their science tests. What?
I did not reply back to that answer because I was so mad that nobody in World Community Grid could figure out that that decision is making the effort go in reverse!! All they have to do is tell these people that they need to use GPU'S!!! Simple.
Why use CPU'S if GPU computing is the future???? I have over $12,000 in GPU'S that was donated by Nvidia to process all that data and they are not using it. That is why I am going with GPUGRID, which also does science test to cure illness and in less than a month I have over 30 million work units processed!!! Now that is computing.
When World Community Grid gets into GPU computing again, I will assume the effort with them.
