PCIe USB Riser computer update.

I don't know what was happening, but the computer would go BSOD when the work units were reaching about 80% done. Then I would loose all the work done. 24 hour work units. :(

Well, I decided to install Windows 8.1 Pro on that computer and everything is working okay.  As a matter of fact, it seems that the work units will be done in about eight hours and a half compared to when I had it on Windows 7 Ultimate.  (Correction: It's taking 20hrs per wu to complete). I don't know if the risers work better in Windows 8.1 Pro or what.  I am keeping a watchful eye to see.

I installed Windows 8.1 Pro because on the other computer that has 256GB of memory, under Windows 7 Ultimate it was only showing about 192GB as total memory under Windows.  I read that Windows 8.1 Pro would recognize the complete 256GB. I tried it on this machine first just in case and to see if I liked the way it worked.  As I mentioned, it's working fine so far.

I will keep you posted on anything that happens. :)

P.S.

Haven't heard from Supermicro yet.  Got my fingers crossed just in case.

5-13-2015 update

Still having problems. Just lost 6 work units again. No BSOD this time just freezes. UPS starts beeping as to a heavy load. Plugged it into the wall directly to see if the UPS was faulty and no, the same happened.  Read on the  forum that it may be due to a power outage , but I am using a UPS so I don't know.  Could be the second power supply that I am using, a 750W Generic brand PSU, but I only have two GPU's installed on that PSU.  Reinstalled Boinc and it's working fine now.  I will keep an eye out to see what happens when it reaches 80%. :(

Need that Supermicro server real bad.  That would solve the problem. Those servers are 100% reliable and have some massive PSU. Haven't received the call from them yet. Just hoping that they come through with the donation. :)

I read on the GPUGRID forum that I should change the Nvidia driver to another version. I am now using 344.75.  If that does not work, I will take two gpus out and the 750w PSU and test. If that fails, who knows what's wrong. Maybe the work units?  Still hoping for Supermicro. Let's see. Wish me luck on this one.
