HP DL360e Gen 8 server

I have seen that the computer that I have running the two AMD Opteron 12 cores are taking longer to process the work units in Primegrid than the i7-4790K.

Found out that these work units need the AVX instruction set that Intel cpu's have.

Well, I just saw the DL360e Gen8 server from HP. This would use two E5-2450L V2 cpu's, that would be 20 cores total, and they use the AVX instruction set.

I wrote to HP to see if they could help out with this donation, a barebones unit. I offered to help out on the shipping expense.  Just hope they realize that this is also an important effort. Prime numbers are used in computing and other things.  In other words, science.

Wish me luck on this!!! :)

No news yet. I hope they answer with good news.

I have seen these on Ebay at around $300 to $400, but the expense of shipping, they will only send FedEx or UPS and that about $200 more.

Just received an email from HP.  Their policy will not allow them to donate Hardware.

As I said in another post, some companies will not help at all.
