AMD CPU's and folding

AMD is a great company. It has helped me out several times with hardware donations.  In fact, they were the FIRST company to help me out and get this rolling.

It's sad to say that their AMD G34 Interlagos CPU's do not crunch work units as fast as Intel newer cpu's.  It's mainly, I have just learned, that the AVX instruction set in the AMD cpu's just does not work as good as in Intel cpu's.  Also, now we have the FMA3 instruction set that these Interlagos cpu's do not have, at least the ones I have.

I have just learned that a combination of a Intel i3-6100 cpu, a GA-H110M-A motherboard, and some good rank 2 (not the same as dual channel) DDR4 memory would do a better job.  We are talking about a $300 investment in these three parts.

I am looking at a 1U DL360 G9 server that has two Intel cpu's that have the AVX, AVX2 and the FMA3 instruction set.  Once I get it running I will post the results as to how fast it works.
